Inskein Yarns opened the door in April 2013. Since then we have continued to grow!
Owner Shannon Sanchez found herself at a crossroads in life, knowing she couldn’t continue on the path she was on. So she took her love of yarn and fiber and decided to share it with the NW side of San Antonio. At that point she had been crocheting for about 10 years and had worked her way from beginner patterns up through advanced, then eventually creating her own designs.
Since opening shop, Shannon’s knowledge keeps expanding, learning more and more about different fibers, techniques, and even how to knit (when she swore she would never be able to knit). All to better serve the knit and crochet community of San Antonio.
Inskein Yarns sets itself apart with friendly customer service, a wide variety of 100% natural fiber yarns, and yarns that are easy on your pocketbook as well. Lines include Juniper Moon Farms, Araucania, Mirasol, Plymouth, Berroco, Caron, Red Heart, and more. We’ve also started adding yarns from independent dyers in Texas!
We are an official site for Project Linus. This project distributes new, handmade blankets to the children in need within our community. The hospitals require clean, smoke free, chemical free blankets that are knitted, crocheted, quilted, or fleece.
Our other charity project is Squares for Veterans. We are collecting 6″X6″ knitted and crocheted squares that will be assembled into afghans for the veterans. So, as you find that you are down to small bits of yarn and can make a square, just bring them by.
